Unhappy Help
Hi everyone I have windows Compaq xp Home ED in my son room he is a special needs child he use the PC to play on. he not on the Internet,just plays off line.Now we can't log onto windows it ask for a user name and password?we have no idea what this is.the PC belong to my older son that lives in another county but he says he never had put a password on the PC when he bought it,he has came down and try every thing he knows to get it back onto windows,Can or does anyone on here have any suggestion?I have try everything

This is sort of a no brainer but sometimes everyone forgets these things. =P
Have you tried just pressing enter? your son may accidently set a password but didnt actually type anything into the field, other than that he may have actually typed something into the field and it could be anything, so as frankjohn said your only option would probably be to format your hard drive and re-install your operating system.

also typing username Administrator and pressing enter may work too

I have try all these and still ask for u/n and password.When I bought the PC it only came with a recovery CD,I have bought 3 desk tops and a Laptop and none have the windows CD,just a recovery CD.1 from wally world 1 from R S and this also at chain store.I try doing the administrator that did do any good either.so can I use the recovery disk to do any good?

The disks will restore the computer to the way it was when you bought. All data will be wiped out and all programs will need to be reinstalled. This site can't help with any Windows password recovery methods, so this is all we can offer.

You shouldn't need to buy a copy of Windows XP. Contact HP to see if they'll sell you a copy of the system restore disks.
