Solved: XP give 2 beeps when booting up and goes into what looks like a DOS mode with
XP give 2 beeps when booting up and goes into what looks like a DOS mode with the two options of
F1 to continue or F2 to run setup utility. This all started after I install an older version of MusicMatch 7. The program gave me problems and was locking up the PC so I tried to delete it. That gave me another problem because it wasn’t allowing me to delete certain files in the programs. So I cleaned out what I could and then did a search and found what I couldn't deleted and deleted them there in search and sent it all to the recycle bin. Now I believe I still have everything I deleted from the search in the recycle bin. How can I get the PC to boot up normally again. I did go into the setup utility and didn’t see anything that I thought would work so I didn’t do anything, because I wasn't sure what to do. Any suggestions?

what happens if you choose F1
I have an intermiitent fault on the cable NIC on my laptop and often get the F1 message - by clicking on F1 it then boots normally.

Yes it will boot up normally if I hit F1. But I really don't want to go through that if I don't have to. What is the "cable NIC"?

I understand that - but we need to diagnose the issue
Now can you post what appears on the DOS Screen

also when you press F1 and Bootup can you go into device manager and see if there are any yellow ?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

{Device Manager}
Post back the results in device manager
Start > control Panel {Vista set to classic view}> system > {Vista, device manager on left hand side} {XP hardware Tab, device manager button} > network adaptors, click on the + > post back the devices listed there
are there any ! ? or X

for windows 7
start > control panel>
System and Security>
Device Manager

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since this happened following installation of MusicMatch 7 can you recover to before you installed

- start
programs
accessories
system tools
system restore

choose a date before the problem

- Cable NIC
thats my ethernet adapter (Network Interface Card/network interface controller NIC)

when I Bootup this is what it says "Bios Plus version 1.10 A09
Drive 4 not found: Parallel ATA, PATA-O (PRI IDE Master)
Drive 5 not found: Parallel ATA, PATA-O (PRI IDE Slave)
Strike F1 to continue, F2 to run setup utility

I did go back and did a restore point of Oct 4, 2009, which is way before I had any issues. I am still getting the same message.

Device Manager doesn't seem to have any issues. There are no "yellow warning_X-? !"

Under Network Adapter I have
1394 Net Adapter
Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller

go into the bios
as the PC boots - you should see F2 or Del Key to enter bios/setup

i would be interested in what it sees for Drives/CD/DVDS etc

can you post back a screen shot or type in
i think there maybe some device listed as unknown

are all your devices working on the PC - DVD CD etc etc

Well I really don't know what to tell you at this point but my computer has some how solved it own problem or I did something that I don't remember doing and it is booting up normally. We had the power to the house go out and when I got home and booted up the pc bingo. I did lose some things when I reverted back to Oct back up date but I'm sure I will be able to take care of them. Thank you for your help and the time you gave me. I wish I knew what happened.
Till next time
