Web browsers, slow typing, stalling,etc
Hello all
I've been having some issues for a couple of months now.
Delayed keystroke entries
Slow mouse response when clicking.
Jerky scrolling.
Both FF and IE8 browsers hang for a bit.
In FF, the little circle of dots that runs when loading a page, quits, starts, quits, etc. IE8 does the same.
Disabled 4-5 FF add ons and nothing changed.
Hit enter to move a line down, and it hesitates. Backspace hesitates.
Have cleaned up the main drive disc, defragged, cleared cookies and cache, all to no avail.
Have replaced the keyboard and mouse.

VBulletin forums work fair.
Any PHP forums, I cannot stay logged in on those for very long. KIcks me off.

WildBlue satellite with a netgear router to run another household computer.
Windows XP Pro, all updates.
AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual
Core Processor 5800+
3.00GHz, 3.25 GB Ram

6 month old custom built machine.

It's took me 2 minutes to type this.

Had a virus here while back. Win32 something.
Kaspersky did not find it, but Avast did [60 day free trial]

Can't think of anything else at the moment.

Ideas?

Thanks
Steve

You have two antivirus, Avast and Kaspersky. Never run more than one at the time or they will conflict and slow down your computer. You should uninstall one.

The startup entries in Start - Run - MSCONFIG - OK - Startup(tab) that I've highlighted in bold type can be unchecked. Some of them don't need to automatically load and run at all, and some of them can be manually started as needed.

O4 - Startup: Microsoft Find Fast.lnk = E:\Program Files\Office\FINDFAST.EXE

The services entries in Start - Run - SERVICES.MSC - OK that I've highlighted in both type can be changed from Automatic to Manual by double-clicking them, changing the "Startup Type" setting, then clicking Apply - OK.

Don't restart your computer until after both sections have been edited. When the small SCU window appears during restart, put a checkmark in that window, then click OK.

------------------------------------------------------------

You need to uninstall one of the anti-virus programs, as you were advised, before you edit the above 2 sections.
