Multiple XP Problems
Hello! I got onto my computer a few weeks back and a few things have gone wrong. It is unable to get onto the internet (connection failed though my internet does work because i can get on xbox live), when shutting down it will say "Shutting Down" but it will never power off unless the power button is held, and the monitor will go dim at random times.

System restore did not solve any of these problems. I use a Linksys wireless card if that helps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

The Dell XPS400 is I think a desktop. It may be a power supply problem.
Have you done anything at all by way of altering registry settings or any files that yoiu would not normally use.
The original DellXPS400 had only 512mb ram with a 3.2gHz processor.
I do not think the small amount of ram is the problem even if it has not been upgraded.
Pls come back with any details of ANYTHING you have done, other then normal use.

The Dell has an ethernet port. It is integrated on the motherboard, at the back of the computer is a
port to plug in an ethernet cable from your router. Can you do that, rather than trying wireless.

That is because YOU are still using your wireless. With ethernet cable plugged in.
Go to Start
Control Panel
Network Connections
Do you have two connections shown. If so
Disable the wireless connection. DO NOT REMOVE that connection, just disable it.

Do you have another computer on which you can get on the net to download a file to a USB pen and then put it your computer.
