How long as Rover been missing? Were you nice to him and feed him well?

Seriously:
So when you open Search, right click the Wizard, select "Choose a different animated character", and "Which character would you like to use?" is missing?

Try running: SFC /scannow

Hi Dan o...... I right click on the wizard but he's the only one i can choose from. I've done sfc /scannow but it's still like it....I forgot to mention that it's since i uninstalled office xp.....I heard office comes with it's own companions.....could uninstalling it deleted the others. I did reinstall it to see if they returned but no luck. I didn't install microsoft outook though would i need to do a complete install of it to get the companions that come with office xp.

The animated characters are not separate Windows components you can add by themselves. I guess you will need to reinstall Windows. If you install it in the same folder it will not damage your settings or data, only refresh the files and hopely fix the problem. If you don't have a Windows XP CD but only a Restore from the PC manufacter you will need to bakup your data. You can copy the to another hard drive or floppies. Good luck.

cherrydrop,

Cool, thanks for letting us know. Do you know the file name? It may help some one else having the same problem.

Hi, Cherrydrop!
I do have the same problem as you had. Unfortunately, I only have CD's of the System Recovery from the manufacturer, not the real Win XP CD. Could you upload the XP animated search companion file you got from your friend to me, please.
Thank you
