missing normaliz.dll file, have hd in an enclosoure
I read thru the forums and cannot find an answer to repair my OS. I have to confess I lost normaliz.dll after cleaning the registry... I know, I know, I am sorry... I WILL NEVER PICK CLEAN THE REGISTRY AGAIN.

I used task mngr for Partition & then Boot Magic to add my copy of xpPro thinking I'd get into my C drive and install the missing file. When I went to Partition Magic it showed drive C as hidden. Both boots show XP. One gets me to the new partition and the other does nothing (duh) That defeated my purpose. I will delete that latest partition as you instruct me.

I put my PC's sata xpHome drive in an enclosure hoping to use my friend's pata xpPro laptop to install padutch's normaliz and runtime dll's found here http://forums.techguy.org/windows-xp...ssing-dll.html.

I copied the two unzipped files over to sys32 but they're already there. Both the orig and padutch's normaliz files are 23kb, with install dates of June 29 06; I allowed the write over. The orig runtime utility file is 1.88mb dated Jan 15 09 and padutch's is 261kb dated Apr 23, 08, so I did not copy it over. I do not have the orig xpHome install disk nor recovery disks as the motherboard's been replaced. I have my own Pro disk and a MS SP 1&2 disc from some yrs ago, and I have access to a friend's torrent of XP Media & Pro w/SP3.

Also, I found 2 ie8 folders in the Windows folder (as well as one ie8 updates folder). ie8(1) is dated Apr 2 09 5:31:31PM with 58 files and ie8(2) is Apr 2 09 3:31:39PM with 1,177 files. I opened each in their own window to compare the files. For instance, ie8(1) has spuninst and ie8(2) does not. The dll files in ie8(2) have mui extensions after .dll Do I have an interrupted download?

I appreciate your help.

Thanks, Nancy
