Cant boot in reg or safe mode
Greetings. I was playing a video game when all of a sudden the graphics messed up, i could still hear the audio but the graphics were all messed up. About 30 seconds after this began it froze, about a minute later the blue screen of death came on with the error message 0x0000007E.
When i restart my computer, the first screen is the Asus m424 MB start up screen and it lets me press delete to go into bios. If i dont go into bios, the next screen is just a black screen. It permenately stays this way. In Bios i can see the SATA hdd and all its specs, i can see the memory. My mother board does not have an onboard video slot, so since i can still see the bios with the monitor plugged in through the Video card, does this mean the Video card is still good? I think its either the mother board or the video that has been fried. Everything looks to be fine. I also tried booting from the XP disc and repairing windows, it did not work.
I can also not boot up in any Safe mode at all. This includes VGA Mode, and all the Safe Modes. I get like 10 lines of .sys, .ln errors and such.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

(ps, i would of already switched out parts for known working ones, i just dont have any lying around!)

if you can get into the bios and see the details on the screen - then the basics of the video card are working -
It may be worth running a virtual operating system like ubuntu and see if that works on the PC

UBUNTU
It may be possible to boot from another Operating System
This will at least test the Hardware and also see if you can see the Harddrive and possibly get data off.

If you have another PC with a cdwriter and spare CD
goto http://www.ubuntu.com/ and download the ISO http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download

YOu can also run from a USB device now - if the Machine supports booting off a USB Stick
http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download

full details are here http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windo...dows-computer/

click on the image "download ubuntu"
Select a location
then begin download
Save the file onto your PC – remember where you saved it – so you can find it again to create the image bootable CD.

You do NOT copy the ISO file onto a CD - you have to use the ISO to create a bootable CD
The CD creator software you have on the PC may have an option to create an image from an ISO
If not - use this free program http://www.imgburn.com/

When the UBUNTU CD boots - you will see the following options
1) Try ubunto without any change to your computer
2) Install ubuntu
3) Check CD for defects
4) Test memory
5) Boot from first hard disk.

Use OPTION 1 "Try ubunto without any change to your computer" ONLY this option this will run from the CD and not install onto your harddrive - be careful, if you do install onto the PC - you will wipe the data and software OFF your hard drive.., so repeat only use option 1

Now you should see a UBUNTU desktop
This at least proves the main parts of the PC are working

yes, thats a good sign the PC is working to some limited extent, see if you can see the harddrive,
Do you have any Data on the machine you want to copy off - you can use the UBUNTU Virtual CD to see if you can copy data OFF the harddrive onto a USB drive

I've repaired windows twice, along with running the chkbt /r and the other 2 boot commands in console restore. It still doesn't boot past bios. After the bios screen goes away I'm left with a black screen with the cursor blinking in the top left corner. I have stuff on my hdd I want, but I can live with out it I guess!

I can see the hdd and get into it and everything.

try this, disconnect the hard drive and start the pc until you receive the "no operating system found error". Then turn off the pc and reconnect the hard drive.startup the pc,

Use the UBUNTU Virtual CD and see if you can copy the data off - a lot of the time you can
