BSOD with drvmcdb.sys stop msg
This just started after I placed an external Maxstor drive on a USB port. It BSOD's about every other time, although tonight it was quite particular and kept repeating. Turning off the drive allowed the boot to continue and booting into safe mode with the drive on is also ok.

Has anyone heard of this before.

The computer has XP SP2 and 3 disks internal (SATA) as well as some TV Tuner Cards. The external disk is a recent addition for backup. It is a Dell Dim E510.

Of course, my obvious question is why, during bootup, is this sonic driver having a problem with this USB External disk drive?

Ahhhh... the BSOD gotta love it, right?
Try This:
1. Unplug the external disk.
2. Boot Windows normally.
3. Uninstall the external disk drivers.
4. Reboot.
5. Wait for the windows desktop to come up.
6. Connect the external disk.
7. Let Windows install the drivers, use drivers disc if necessary.
8. Reboot.
9. DONE!!
