laptop very slow after windows xp reinstall
Hello there!

Two days ago I had to reinstall windows xp home edition (yet again). It was probably due to improper shutdown. Anyway, after reinstalling windows I found my laptop has become terribly slower than before. My videos are running at a slower pace which is most of my concern. I installed all the necessary drivers and everything. But according to Driver max 5.5 they are very outdated. Could this be the reason? I also have previous versions of xp loaded in the machine as I couldn't delete them during reinstall. Although I have deleted the previous windows folders in the c drive..also, cpu usage is more than 50 percent most of the time. i have nav 2010 installed could that be the problem? (but it was fine before)
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks!

Did you use an actual XP CD to reinstall XP?

If you did use an actual XP CD, did you boot from it, delete all current partitions, create a single C partition, format it in the NTFS file system, and then reinstall XP?

Here is a pictorial guide and instructions on how it should be reinstalled.

I did use an actual xp cd which came with the laptop. I had to reinstall xp many times over a couple of years and never repartioned the c drive or format anything.

If you don't follow the steps and/or the tutorial that I previously provided, you won't start out with a pristine clean hard drive and a fresh install of XP.
