Computer Slow Unless I Move Mouse
My computer (XP) has been downloading, uploading, and surfing very slowly....it hangs up for a minute or so, unless I move my mouse....then everything jumps.

Any suggestions?

Make and model if branded.
Hard drive - free space and capacity - hold mouse over drive icon in My Computer or one right click and click properties.
How much ram -
Have you used a registry cleaner - do NOT they are unhelpful and frequently dangerous to the health of your system.

Has ANYONE got the answer to this problem?
I can find five years worth of people asking about this problem and nowhere in dozens of forums, and question areas can I find one person with the answer.

Did everyone just buy new laptops and start again?

Maybe Macboatmaster was destined to be the one with the answer but he's still waiting for yours.

Your one woman attempt at the "most posts in one thread with no answers" is a valiant one but I can only say that your AdBlocker is probably in Firefox or Google Chrome. My only other best shot is to try an external USB mouse to see if the same symptoms remain.

Also is this an XP machine or a brand new laptop with Windows 7?
