Solving defrag problem with GoBack3 software?
Dr Dave and other GoBack users,

.....Is it true that if I exclude the "gobackio.bin" file from my defrag untility(in my case, Norton Antivirus), my GoBack history will not get wiped out or slow the defrag process down, etc.?

Joe not sure about it. Check "GoBack" help files, if you cannot find the answer there check Roxio web site.

Dr Dave,
I found that "solution" on a website somewhere and was wondering if you could confirm that it worked(I'm not at that computer now to try it).

But in the meantime, I did email Roxio and they say that doing that would have no affect on the history file getting erased.

(seemed to good to be true)

sorry

Have you found a way to disable GoBack without making it automatically start the history erase process? When I do that it can take up to an hour and a half to finish erasing/disabling itself.

You'd think there would just be a quick way to do it!

HI, I have seen the wiping history after defragging mentioned a few times in foums and it is a darned nuisance as that could be a time when you might need the history most of all. I have also seen that Roxio said it is just something that happens.

I partitioned today and had to disable Go Back and lost the history and this is another time when history might be needed.

I am not smart enough to fix it. If we coiuld find where the history is stored maybe shifting it to a different folder with a new name might help. Peace Mal

Has anybody tried making a copy of the gobackio.bin file, and putting it somewhere else on the computer....and then after a defrag putting it back(or replacing the empty one) to see if this would save the GoBack history?

has any GoBack user tried that?

defrag problem
I had this problem also, but I found that if I only defrag in normal mode, and defrag before the drive says to, that I do not lose my goback history, and we have 98Se and Xp home, and this solved the problem on them both.
Hope this helps.
Blessings to All

Don't know if this is even still a valid question anymore, but for future readers--you can not move the GoBack Bin:Acess Denied (Sytem Folder)
Blessings
