| Try running the Norton Removal Tool. You have traces of Symantec on your computer. |

| iexplore.exe cheers mate. I've run the removal tool and also registrybooster but I think i've really messed the computer up! I tried a quickfix... stupidly... before I sent you my hijack this log last time by running an old combofix off a bleeping computer forum for the same problem. Silly Idea - you must hate amateurs. Boot up is now really slow and a black screen pops up that I've never seen before - it says boot up in Windows XP - or do not press this - debugger. The CPU runs now at nearly 100% whatever i seem to do. Internet is massively slow so I'm now running firefox and it's a bit better. Any slight thing I do makes the CPU run overtime basically. I have no system restore points prior to running the combofix so I reckon I'm completely screwed. Do you know another way round this? Here's new hijack this log - not sure if it's the same or even any good to you. | Seems like the Norton Removal Tool hasn't taken care of Symantec. ![]() Running ComboFix without proper assistance was not a good idea, I'm afraid. ![]() Registry cleaners like RegistryBooster are completely useless and will damage your programs and operating system. By deleting what IT thinks must be deleted, it also removes legitimate entries still in use by some applications on your computer: Why I Don’t Use Registry Cleaners Registry Cleaners and System Tweaking Tools http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic347491.html/page__p__1932993 http://forums.techguy.org/windows-xp/997274-registry-got-messed-up-advanced.html I think your best bet would be to reformat and reinstall Windows from scratch. ![]()

| Look for the folder C:\Qoobox or C:\Combofix ; regardless you want to find a file combofix.txt Open it and post the contents so a malware removal expert can look and see what it did. \ O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSConfig] C:\WINDOWS\pchealth\helpctr\Binaries\MSCONFIG.EXE /auto Indicates you have things disabled with MSCONFIG this can make detection and identification of malware harder, and can slow systems if you partially disable an application while leaving services which depend on it running. You have Dr Watson debugger running. What are you debugging? Debugging will slow the system. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/188296 I agree, I do not recommend running registry cleaners / boosters as they are more likely to cause damage than help things. |

| iexplore.exe G'day gents, Thanks for your advise - you learn something new every day. Things seem to be getting even worse now - the mouse has frozen and it's not the touchpad either as I tried it with a plug in mouse. Anyways, I've managed to locate combofix.txt - it was just saved in c: Here are the contents: The last few lines correspond to the black screen that now appears upon start up.
