    Outlook is being... difficult.

I had a HDD crash ealier today (Ok, ok, I banged into my case with my knee and knocked the crummy SATA cable loose). Anyway, plugged it back in and rebooted. Most stuff is working just fine after a chkdisk turned up multiple errors. Anyway, now when I go to launch Outlook, I get the following...

    outlook.pst file missing

Thanks Aaric! I ran a little program called "Recovery Toolbox" I picked up from MajorGeeks.com. I didn't have a lot of confidence in it, but surprisingly it managed to stitch together some .dat files located in a foundXXX.chk folder. Some of the data was corrupted, but with a little bit of...

Missing as in GONE Had a harddisk hiccup, the computer blue screened. Restart. Windows won't load. Launched recovery console from XP CD. Ran chkdsk /r. Reboot. Windows won't load. Reboot. Start in Safe Mode w/ Command Prompt. Ran System Restore. Chose a restore point from this morning (2...

Added 2nd SATA Drive - NO RECOGNIZE

Hm. Found a little nugget here: http://www.mittoni.com.au/catalog/default.php/cPath/103 Might be applicable- scroll down to where it talks about "adding a second drive". :)

Added 2nd SATA Drive - NO RECOGNIZE

Forgive me if you've already done this, but you gotta start with the basics: you DID set the jumper to 'Slave' instead of 'Master', correct? :)

Outlook Express 6 - Lost messages and folders

You lot are whinier than a certain gaming forum I frequent - makes me feel right at home. :D It's alright... I don't understand what I said. :) Nah, I'll give it a whack: First thing you should probably do: START->SEARCH->All Files and Folders on your main partition (usually C: )...

Outlook Express 6 - Lost messages and folders

I'm assuming that the hard reset caused Windows to 'lose' those .dbx files, but I'm still in a quandry regarding why it took 3 separate disk scans to 'find' them again, and why they never showed up in my searches. Regardless, thanks for the tips - already implemented btw. ;) The other...

Outlook Express 6 - Lost messages and folders

SOLVED. I ended up doing a full media scan on both disks, and had Windows run a scandisk. The 'missing' .dbx files turned up burried well down in a found.xxx folder (oddly, a search for those files still never turned up the 'missing .dbx files' I only stumbled upon them by going in and...

Outlook Express 6 - Lost messages and folders

I'm having a bit of a problem with OE 6. It seems that when I opened it this morning, all my messages were missing. Inbox, Outbox, Deleted... all the 'default' folders were empty. Compounding my frustration, ALL of my 'user-created' folders are GONE. I poked around a bit looking for *.dbx files...

    New ATI video card

From what I surmise, the R420 and the NV40 are "new" architectures, and not just speed bumps to existing proc'ys. Think I'll go pre-order Doom 3 now. :D:up:

    Buying a new PC

Monarch Computer and United Micro are both pretty good. Neither one has every product under the sun (but you can pick up the odds and ends from www.newegg.com), their build quality and warranties are just as good if not better than the 'big boys'. I've used both of them before and have had ZERO...

    Online Gaming and lagging

I'm not trying to be a butt, but satellite isn't really the best solution for online gaming. DSL and Cable are far superior both in terms of latency and upload speed (cable not so much on the uploads - mine, for example, is 3Mbit down, 256kbit up but still pings under 100ms on many many many...

    Font question

np. That's what I hate about having to identify fonts - by the time you've checked every resource and poured through every website, you could have just re-built it in Illustrator in half the time and been sipping a nice cup of tea by now. :D
