    Solved: No "Send to" button

When I right click on a file the "send to" button is missing, There is a "Send to" folder in the C:\Documents and Settings\dormouse folder which seems to contain all the options that a "send to" button would offer - Desktop (create shortcut), etc. This is a recent (last few hours) xp pro sp3...

    Solved: Bsod

I know I'm legal. I paid extra for the retail version just in case I might need to do an upgrade at some time - motherboard, CPU, etc. In this case the original motherboard died. If it was an OEM version I would not have been able to make the change.

    Solved: Bsod

Hi, On returning to my PC (XP Home Retail) I found a number of overlapping error mini-windows all saying that unspecified programs were trying to access memory at locations which didn't exist. I cleared the messages and rebooted. I got a BSOD with a message saying that if this was the first tome...

    Solved: Backdoor.bot.18800

I picked up this malware on a fairly innocuous site (supposed rose growers). Bitdefender announced that it had blocked it and finally deleted it. However when I ran a full scan with Bit defender it found the same malware lodged in an exe file in the System Volume Information folder. There was a...

    Activation Files Backup

@AcaCandy Thanks. I've only done it once and chose the internet option. Ran into problems - now resolved, but a phone number would have been useful. Perhaps the next time I'll use the phone option.

    Activation Files Backup

When I've tried to contact them I'm always shunted into a voice menu system and never into a call centre with real people answering the phone. Where and how does one find out the phone number to use?

    XP activation

Thank you. That certainly is a relief. One sees stories of people talking to a real person at Microsoft over the phone but there doesn't seem to be any way to get out of their menu system and into the real world of real people.

    XP activation

I did a search and found that there is a separate activation process in System Tools. I think the installation process said I could activate later by using regwiz /r, which is what I did. It would have been better if I had just used used System Tools. According to the the XP activation in System...

    XP activation

@manshead_uk My product key on the box consists of 5 groups of 5 charcters and digits. The second phone number asked for a first group of 6 digits. I don't think they were asking for the product ID.

    XP activation

I tried that. The only number I had was the support number for the UK in the booklet - 08706010100. I dialled the number and there was only one item in the menu which was relevant. - product activation. I chose that and was given another number to ring - 08000188354. This number also had a menu...

    XP activation

The PC, on which I installed a legal retail copy of XP, is in the middle of its 30 day activation period. As I had done most of the upgrades I wanted, I decided to do a regwiz and register the product and get it activated. Towards the end I got a number which was supposed to identify the...

    convert fat32 ntfs

I've just upgraded a win98 system to XP Home (+SP2) retail. Before activating I would like to make some additions and alterations to the hardware. I gather I have 30 days to activate - incidentally, is there any way to verify time remaining?. One of the first alterations, I would like, is to...
