All good. SATA connection found but rather than wait until I got to work and use a SATA cable, I bought a cheap disk caddy and plugged it straight into the Mac. Partitions appeared instantly and I have access to everything.
I'm trying to get the files off an old laptop which has given up. I have the hard drive out but don't recognise the connector even though it's a SATA. I thought I'd be able to just attach it to my PC using a spare SATA cable.
