    Bad Memory - Can't Identify

2xCorsair DDR800 and 2xCrucial DDR800. I don't know the exact models off the top of my head. But, I've been running the Corsairs for almost 2 years and added the Crucials over a year ago. Another clue is that I tried to update my bios yesterday and ended up with a bad flash that caused the PC...

    Bad Memory - Can't Identify

All of a sudden I've been getting random reboots so I figured I had a bad memory stick. I have 4x1GB DDR800 in an Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe. When I ran Memtest it threw a bunch of errors. Then I pulled two sticks and ran it again trying to see which one(s) were bad. Those two ran through 3 passes...

    XP System Event Notification

No, there are no entries since I cleared the log about an hour ago. But, I still get the event sounds. It is not the balloon notifications. It is the Sys Event notification sound which happens to be names "Windows XP Balloon.wav". I guess I could just disable that in the sound scheme. Still...

    XP System Event Notification

On my laptop with XP Pro SP2, I get frequent and seemingly random System Event Notification sounds (XP Balloon.wav). I can not figure out what is causing them. I get them all the time. I have checked the Event Viewer and I can find no entries that seem to correspond. I cleared the event logs and...

    Toolbars will not stick

Every time I reboot I have to reselect the toolbars that I load in the taskbar. I load 2 toolbars; Quicklaunch and a third party installed toolbar. I have both selected and then I lock the toolbar. But, upon reboot, both are deselected. What could be causing this?

    Netframework 1.1 and/or 2.0

I have some apps written for netframwork1.1 and some for netframework 2.0. If I install only ver 2 will it provide backwards compatibility for the apps written in .Net 1.1? Do I need to install both?

Laptop running extremely slow! (HJT log)

Well, I have a couple of comments but you might not like what I say: #1. I would never put a Symantec app on any of my computers. I find them to be excessive resource hogs that slows down a machine. #2. Do you really need Realplayer and QuicktimeTasks loading at every startup? I doubt it. #3...

    No Desktop Background Without Shortcuts

Here is a strange one. On my XP Pro box I have Active Desktop enabled. If I have a shortcut on the desktop then I can see a Jpg as my background. However, if I delete all the shortcuts and have no desktop icons, my background goes blank. I can use a bmp file and no shortcuts/icons just fine. I...

    Help with Del.icio.us please

I am trying to get the hang of del.icio.us but I must be doing something wrong. I have a lot of sites tagged but I'm having trouble with searching for them. Examples: - I have a site with a description of "Albuquerque Library" tagged as "books" If I search for "books" I get a hit on "Best...
