I am a lay computer person, that is, my working life was not spent in IT. My computer experience began in the 1960s at work. My first computer at home was a BBC computer followed later with various PCs.
In 1999 my wife and I sold our home in the city. With the proceeds of the sale and a small pension income we had enough to retire to a small holding in the country about 1 hours drive north of Auckland New Zealand. Our three children are grown up and left home years ago. We have two amazing grandchildren who live in Australia and whom we visit from time to time. Nowadays I spend a lot of time working around our property and serving on one or two local community voluntary organization committees. When I am not doing that I like to help in the war against malware.
I got involved in the anti malware fight after receiving technical assistance for my PC at Tech Support Guys. I was amazed to find these wonderful sites that help people with computer problems. I was also interested to see their malware help forums and found that you could get training to assist in that area. TSG referred me to GeekU where I underwent their excellant training program. Now I help on a small number of sites and teach at Geekstogo.
