Shift key takes IE to front window

I have tried several times to update this post but had problems. I did not find a solution to this problem so I reloaded the OS and all other software. This was the only way I could find to fix the problem.

Shift key takes IE to front window

I checked out the shortcut key assignment option for the IE shortcuts and it was set to none. That was a good idea though. I am also out of ideas. I double checked the processes to see if something in the background may have been affecting it but found nothing. I am proposing a challenge...

Shift key takes IE to front window

I checked out the help section for keyboard features and all it talked about was the accessiblity features. Before I uninstalled the accessibility options I did open it and I did not see any of its features enabled. I then uninstalled.

Shift key takes IE to front window

Thank you for your reply sekirt. All of the keyboard shortcuts in the help section refer to control panel/accessibility options. In my earlier post I noted that I uninstalled the accessibility options. This did not fix the problem. If my problem was caused by accessiblity option settings...

I am having the same problem but mine started with IE5.5sp2 and Win98. I upgraded to IE6sp1 but this did not help. I have an open post for this problem posted in the Win98 forum. It has not gotten any responses yet, so I would be interested in any postings to this thread. You can search...

    directx and windows XP

:D Direct X 8.1 is included in Windows XP. Look at this Microsoft article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q179113. It states in the "More Information" section: DirectX 8.1 is already included in Microsoft Windows XP. Attempting to install the DirectX 8.1 run times...

    Dual boot from seperate HDD's.

I guess I am now able to post. I am not sure what the problem was. I have talked my boss out of settting up a dual boot of XP and Win98. We are going to reinstall all her programs onto XP and run them in compatibility mode (If necessary). Thanks to all who responded to my initial problem...

    Dual boot from seperate HDD's.

Finally had time to try some suggestions. I added: d:\="Microsoft Windows 98SE" to my boot.ini file and it displayed the dual boot menu for me. If I choose XP it boots up fine. If I choose Win98 the screen goes blank for a few seconds and then reboots to the menu. Am I missing some...

    Dual boot from seperate HDD's.

Thanks for the information. I will check out the bios on the pc on monday. It would be nice if this pc has the feature you are describing. The pc is a PowerSpec, model 7615. Not sure how old it is, but win 98 was upgraded to XP Professional a while back.

    Dual boot from seperate HDD's.

That was an interesting article about compatibility mode. I am sure it will come in handy sometime. I will remember that. I will have to check which version of Partition Magic we have.

    Dual boot from seperate HDD's.

I will try the modification to the boot.ini file on Monday and see what happens. I will post back the results. You mentioned a boot manager program. I think we have Partition Magic or Partition Manager at work. I have not been there long so I do not know what software we actually have...

    Dual boot from seperate HDD's.

Sorry, I hit a wrong key and accidently posted my last post before completing it. As I was saying, can I make the entry: d:\="Microsoft Windows 98SE" as the last entry in my boot.ini file and then I shoud get a boot option screen, select win98 and boot up successfully? Please tell...
