Thanks for your response. I have tried sfc /scannow, looked at the wireless driver, no USB drive, yes to Wireless mouse, windows defender. Windows updates are installed. I would now disable wireless, try to update overnight, and see if that makes a difference. Shall report tomorrow. Thanks again.

Thanks. When I said there is nothing in the startup, I meant everything there is disabled. No entries referring to powershell; and yes, the startup folder is empty. I am attaching the start up tab of the task manager.
