My sister has had a couple of hacks on her computer. No real damage so far, but I'd like to make her safer. To that end, I've been looking at VPN as an added protection. Please post any recommendations, problems, or precautions that may aid me in evaluating such a step. Basically... Does it...

    Solved Unused RAID icons

I made a bad assumption which led me down the primrose path. No problem, the collective knowledge of Techguy members is something I can always count on. The extra drive letters are Gone and I am now a happy camper. Kudos to Frank and Rob. I'll mark this thread "Solved"

    Solved Unused RAID icons

It occurred to me the "Repair"could be related to reconfiguration of Windows after changing BIOS from RAID to IDE. I'm not inclined to run the Repair option unless it becomes really necessary. What do you think?

    Solved Unused RAID icons

Ran across a blog that indicated one can switch from RAID to IDE in BIOS under the advanced tab/SATA. Opened BIOS and took a shot of the MAIN screen, which is the only place anything about additional drives is noted. Not able to find any way to change the configuration. Pic attached.

    Solved Unused RAID icons

Hi Frank... Found another sticker on the front panel near the bottom of the tower which identifies the machine as "HP Pavilion a1640n". The designation I listed before was apparently a series number on a larger sticker on the bottom. I'll check BIOS and see what reference to RAID is there.
