Solved: eMachines Dead - You Opinions Wanted

Rick-M: Yes, I pulled a "Pentium 4 Ready" power supply from another case I have. I was also going to replace the power supply. I don't want to take the chance of using the same power supply and having the same problem happen again.

Solved: eMachines Dead - You Opinions Wanted

win2kpro: I did think about using the eMachines recovery disk - which happens to be a ghost image. I popped it in my Dell laptop and when I booted it, it wanted to restore my hard drive. So I figure, its not looking for the eMachines BIOS. I did find a motherboard that has the same...

Solved: eMachines Dead - You Opinions Wanted

Hi guys. Have a problem here and wanted to get your opinions before I go ahead and start purchasing parts. About a month and a half ago, a friend of mine gave me an eMachines T2240 that died. He purchased a Dell and figured I needed a weekend project. The machine is a 2.2...

    Solved: Slave not seen

EDIT: Oh well, guess I am too slow. SacsTC beat me to it. :) Check the Disk Management tool. I believe you have to "add" disk there and reboot. It can be found in Control Panal -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management.

    Solved: Multifunction DPI question

Thanks for your replies. Sounds like the DPI of the MFC-840N is overkill. Doesn't make much sense to pay extra for something that will most likey not be noticed.

    Solved: Multifunction DPI question

Hello Everyone. I have been looking at the Brother MFC-7820N and the MFC-8460N. On the website and brochures at Staples, the MFC-840N has a "1200 x 1200 dpi high-quality print resolution" and color scanning up to 19,200 x 19,200 dpi. The MFC-7280N has a "laser output" of 2400 x 600 dpi and...

    CPU Upgrade and FSB

Wow, thanks for your replies and input. I don't know what capacitors are but I believe my brother does, so I'll have to ask him to check those for me when he gets back from college for the summer. I didn't realize that ESC motherboards had a bad "rep". I've never had any real problems...

    CPU Upgrade and FSB

When I looked in the manual, it stated: The P4VXAD mainboard includes a mPGA Socket 478 that has the following features: · Supports up to a 400 MHz front side bus (FSB) · Accommodates Intel Pentium 4 processors After reading your post, I checked the BIOS and there, under the "Advanced...

Inspiron 9100 with SpeedStep - Possible?

I'll have to check out that other utility. In the first link you gave me, in the FAQ if I remember correctly, it said that laptops built with desktop processors don't support throttling. So I was a bit confused. BTW, found more pictures of replacing the processor in the laptop and to be...

Inspiron 9100 with SpeedStep - Possible?

Thanks for the link. Although that plan didn't work out, I did find this article here: http://www.overclockers.com/articles1200/index02.asp and they mention about swapping out the Prescott processor with another Northwood Processor since the socket type is the same and it would consume...

Soundcard recognised. Crash. Soundcard not recognised. Wait 2Hr Recognised Again ??.

Greetings. You didn’t mention if your sound card is built into the motherboard or is an add-on card. I'll assume it’s an add-on. I would check to make sure the sound card is seated firmly in the slot, or another option would be to try another slot. Perhaps the one you have the sound card...
