    SSD Longevity

Computer is running fine since I upgraded my mechanical drive to an SSD. My question: Is it okay to run my computer 24/7 with my new SSD or, will it harm or shorten the life of my SSD? I had no issues running my mechanical hard drive 24/7.

Laptop Ethernet - Network Cable Unplugged

Thank you everyone for your suggestions/comments. I have decided to just use the Wi-Fi until I can find a newer laptop on sale. I may buy a USB to Ethernet adapter and sell it with that. I already bought a new power adapter and battery so, I don't see the need to trash it.

Solved HDD SATA II to SSD SATA III

Yes, I knew it was but, the specs on the Samsung EVO 860 gave compatible windows versions of XP up to 8.1. And that confused me if it would work in my pc with windows 10. I guess I can do further research at Samsung. But, thank you for your answer.

Solved 750GB WD Blue SATA HDD

Thanks for that info. I will connect it to my existing computer and change the jumpers to SLAVE. And then I will run CPU-Z and Crystal Disk Info to get some information. I'm assuming that if there is 1 or more bad sectors, that any data saved near those bad sectors will just skip over the...

Solved 750GB WD Blue SATA HDD

HELP! Last I looked, this hard drive had 1 or more bad sectors. Seems inefficient that this hard drive still can't be utilized. Is there a proper way to format this drive (make it clean) so that the bad sectors can be ignored, or cleaned up and let the hard drive be usable? Or, will I be...

    Solved Windows XP upgrade

Thanks Frank. I will consider doing that. I've never been a big fan of refurbished but, this is an option considering systems are not like they were in 2004.

    Solved Windows XP upgrade

Thank you for that information. I think I have decided to pull EVERYTHING out of the case (motherboard, cpu, optical drive, hard drive, power, etc) and upgrade with a completely new system. There is nothing wrong with the case. When I upgrade the motherboard, I will get the I/O plate with it...

    Solved Windows XP upgrade

Thank you Frank, for that information. It was helpful in helping me make my decision. I was hoping but, alas a complete upgrade (motherboard, CPU, ram, ssd drive, power supply, Win 10 Home) is in order. The case is still quite functional for an upgrade.
