New PC Build - Shutoff After Powered On for Extended Periods

It appears unfortunately that the issue still persists. So whatever change I made to the settings has not worked. I will try to test this issue as initially suggested and will update with the results.

New PC Build - Shutoff After Powered On for Extended Periods

My OS is currently installed on a mechanical drive. I have 3 drives on my PC and I haven't used. The newest is a 500 GB SSD, but I am doing a "trial run" on the old drive first. I will eventually reinstall the OS on the SSD. (Was also planning to do multiple boot one for gaming and one for work...

New PC Build - Shutoff After Powered On for Extended Periods

They are different things. Which is why I was confused by this setting to shut down to hard disk. I am testing the theory that this is what is causing the issue, because if the hard disk is shut down, then the operating system is not working, and if that happens, it prompts a restart. I will...

New PC Build - Shutoff After Powered On for Extended Periods

Sorry for the long delay in my response. Been busy. Before I try your solution this could just be an issue with my PC settings. I am going to try this guide https://windowsreport.com/windows-10-unexpected-shutdown/ It suggests that by default Windows 10 is set to turn off the hard disk after...

New PC Build - Shutoff After Powered On for Extended Periods

For Temperature monitoring I am using a program called "Speccy" For updating the Drivers/BIOS I am using a program called "Armoury Crate" which came with the motherboard. The CPU temperature I had to estimate based on the other temperatures. Not that accurate, but it is something and gives me a...

Solved Trying to Transfer Files from HD, but filenames are too long

I think I found a solution that works with Vista. In the cmd line there is a built in utility called "Robocopy" that you can used by entering the command robocopy. With the proper syntax it will copy files from one directory to another, and has lots of different options. I chose the "copy all...

Solved Trying to Transfer Files from HD, but filenames are too long

I am in a bit of trouble here. I am trying to transfer important data (up to 170 GB) from my 10 year old Windows Vista PC to a removable hard drive, which I will then use to transfer them to my new laptop. However I overlooked one problem, the file names are too long. After waiting several...

Solved: Abnormal "bootmngr is missing" error

I'm getting the "bootmngr is missing" error with my PC. Normally, this would be a quick fix as I would just use a recovery disk or a system restore point. However when I use the disk, and click on "startup repair", when it tries to do the startup repair process, it will give something like this...

Well I went out and got a new power supply. Same wattage as before. Hooked it all up, hopefully didn't miss anything. 115 AC output, one 4 pin, and one 24 pin for motherboard, one cord to the CD/DVD drive, one 6 pin to graphics card and one cord to hard drive. All fans are now working, but I...

Solved: Computer wont start and shuts off

Trying to get my hands on one for now. Is the reason for my hard drive humming and not starting because it doesnt have enough power or a steady flow of power? Is it worth looking into fixing the power supply I have, like soldering a short circuit or should I just buy a new one?

Solved: Computer wont start and shuts off

Well the onset of this problem was pretty sudden and appeared to start after I downloaded that virus. Do some viruses cause your power supply to get damaged? Maybe that's what happened here.
