I am totally wrapped around the axle in trying to delete ROXIO MUSIC LAB 9 from Win10. latest buld, fully current.
I tried to remove and reinstall due to the error "unable to find a certificate file". I had not run the app for many months. Perhaps not even since last July when I installed 10. Did a 7 to 10 upgrade. It would not uninstall saying "wait for the previous uninstall". There was not one. I deleted everything Roxio with regedit and the hard drive, but still can not install since it says "already installed". Catch-22 I believe. I tried the MS installer cleanup util, but can't get it to run. get "error 1500".
Any advice on doing a full purge of Roxio?
All I really want to to is rip a vinyl LP to the hard drive. Any suggestions on this? Is Nero 2016 Classic any good for this? I have it but have not installed the audio stuff.
Thanks for any ideas.
PS: will Windows Media Player rip from a phonograph? "line in". Do not see how to do it, only CD.

cant say of the above progrmas but the best results iv'e seen for vinyl to digital, (Wav or compressed formats) such as Mp3, is... free audacity. see link for download and info: http://www.audacityteam.org/
an RCA cable is required to connect stereo amp to pc. also, the lame encoder is required, (also free) for exporting to mp3 tracks. http://lame.sourceforge.net/
youtube has a number of guides and tutorials for using audacity and recording vinyl to digital audio.
Thanks for the info. I just installed Audacity and will try that. Played with it years ago but did not go very far.
For now, I'm booting back to Win7 (dual boot) and running Nero10 which has an audio app. My Win10 has Nero2016 Classic which does not seem to rip vinyl. The Nero10 seems to work well but do not think it will split tracks. Do you know if Audacity will post-process wav files? I don't like to burn an entire vinyl record side at once.
yes, audacity allows for lots of editing, snipping and adding any length silences between tracks. by highlighting the length of a track... cut/copy and paste or move from one area to another, etc.
but exporting an entire album at once, will take a little while, instead id stay with a few tracks at a time but its my own method of building up a folder of decent quality mp3s. nothing to say a full side cannot be done at once. http://www.wikihow.com/Convert-Vinyl-LPs-to-CDs-(Audacity)
Ok, great. Thanks for the info! will get back on this on the weekend.
Still would love to hear from someone on how to fully remove Roxio Recordnow9, I did the full regedit thing twice. Still periodically get the "can't find certificicate file" error even though I'm working on something else. Also, it's still in the add/remove programs menu. Do not see a removal tool on their website like many of the AV app sites have.
Just tried the Revo app and does not seem to work. On the full (slow/adv) mode "scan" remains grayed out. In the "force" mode it just sits there (see screen below). I have no uninstaller from the app since I've manually deleted all I could find including registry entries. Maybe that's throwing Revo a curve. ???
Why do I think it's still installed? I get the original error msg. on every restart. See 2nd image.
I think I have it now. error pop-up now gone. I did a revo reinstall (not sure necessary) but did a "force uninstall" this time and was more patient. It did take a good while doing something. Also went into registry and removed all Sonic items, maybe that was it. So far, no ill effects from removing Sonic. At one point Sonic owned Roxio.
glad it came through.
thanks for letting us know the outcome.
as for the full version of revo it will allow for both 64bit and 32 bit software versions to be listed.
I have used Revo for years, both the Free Version and the Pro version. The Pro version is more robust. CC Cleaner also includes an uninstaller as well. You really need to be careful not to use the Registry Cleaner (or any Registry Cleaner for that matter)
CORRECTION. STILL NOT WORKING. no suggestions offered so far work in remoing Roxio RecordNow9. See the link at the bottom for my post on the MS site. He offered the basic vanilla Windows methods which of course failed, but I tried again anyway. As a said in the post below, on a different Win10 image I deleted every single occurrence of "roxio" anything and Sonic from the registry and it was still not gone. The problem is I get a recurring error pop up about "can't find certificate file" otherwise I'd just ignore it. At the moment I'm playing with a "C" image from 2 wks ago thinking I'd start with a fully fresh system before I began tinkering. No change. I'll probably toggle back to the earlier image so my desktop is current (I use EaseUS Todo backup for images-wackiest app name I've ever seen, but it works well).
OK, how about this. Can someone please recommend a registery editor/cleaner that will prompt for an app name like "roxio" and purge 100% of the Roxio entries from the registry?
I did this manually and it's very time consuming, but so far it "seemed" to work!
I know all about avoiding registry cleaners etc, and typically do not use them, but this is a special case.
And one more: Does Windows 10 use Roxio for anything legit like burning CD? I seem to recall that in XP they used Roxio for that-embedded in the O.S. I'll find out in a sec if I can still burn a CD in my WIn10.

reg cleaners go against policy of the forum afaik. i see revo was not the one.. theres always geek uninstaller. a small freebie that lists both 64 and 32bit programs. see link. http://www.geekuninstaller.com/
there are los of site promising uninstallation of roxio lab 9 online but its prudent to stay clear imo.
OK, thanks. Problem solved finally with combo of manual removal via regedit and CCleaner's reg cleaner. I DO normally avoid registry cleaners. Ccleaner found a ton of residual Roxio stuff. After the run, the "missing certificate" popup is gone. Whew, only 7-8 hrs wasted on this.
Lesson learned: when you upgrade from Win 7 to 10 be sure all non Win10 compliant apps are removed first!!!
