Have win 7. Wish to put gmail short cut on my desk top. Have tried different methods. I was successful on putting the short cut on my desk top, and it works ok on the first try, but then it stops working. I double click on the gmail icon and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong ??
Go to https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl
Click the "Gmail" link.
Save that site in your Favorites list.
Right-click on that entry in your Favorites list, then click "Send to - Desktop (create shortcut)".
The shortcut icon should appear on your desktop.
You can rename that desktop shortcut "Gmail" or whatever name you want.
I use Gmail in Windows 7, and that's how I set it up with the Internet Explorer browser.
If you use a different browser, someone else will need to advise you how to do it.
Pretty much the same procedure in Firefox, it's just called Bookmarks.
Or right click on your desktop and choose New then choose Shortcut, in the location box paste or type the address of Gmail(https://mail.google.com) click Next, give it a name like GMAIL and click Finish.
