I have been having problems with a new installation with my Windows 7 Home Premium. It will not update from the very start. Seems Microsoft wants to force people to upgrade to Windows 10 with it's abhorrent Security Issues. When I get with Microsoft support they of course can fix it usually by getting 'inside" your computer, but who know what they do while your pc is open.
Thanks bunches.
Does that new install of Windows 7 Home Premium include Service Pack 1, and is it the 32-bit or 64-bit version?
There are a number of steps to go through first (listed in the attached text file) in order to get Windows Update to work properly and get Windows 7 completely up-to-date.
I have another method of making it update. Go to http://download.wsusoffline.net/ and download their program. It downloads all the critical updates and makes an ISO file. Then write the ISO file to DVD using ImgBurn ( http://www.imgburn.com/ ). Put the DVD in the drive and run the update program. It will install all the critical updates. Then go online to fetch the remaining non-critical updates. I find that after wsusoffline, the download works, because all the necessary components are updated along with the critical updates. This is especially useful for fresh installs like yours.
Sorry for the way late response. I have had some serious Malware and Spy problems. I cannot download the Image burn program, my Eset Security blocks it. Would you know of another burner? Thanks
If your security software is blocking a site/software, then you have to allow the traffic. No reason to not use a quality tool simply because your security software is not allowing the connection. That's just silly and/or lazy.
Windows 7 does not need image burn. You simply right click any ISO on the computer and in the menu select Burn disc image.
