PLEASE HELP i brought a printer a epson xp420 and i set it all up properly and it printed once and said i have internet connection problem i have tried and tried over it now amd another question i didnt think you need internet to print
I disagree with "Etaf" here.
You won't need a router to print to a networked printer. If it's wifi then, at the very least you'll need a wifi access point and manually set a IP address. If it's wired you'll need to set a static IP address in the printer that's on the same subnet as you computer ip. If you have internet directly to your computer it's a pain. Because you'll need to set multiple static IP's on the machine. And you'll have to change it every time your ISP assigns a new ip to your modem. But I don't think it's something a person unfamiliar with setting static IP's should do. Yet, it can be done.
But for all intents and purposes, as "etaf" says, it's a lot easier if you do have a router.
