Cable not connected error

I've recently invested in a 1050ti to upgrade from my current 650ti.

On my 650, I used a dvi-i to vga connection for my monitor and it worked perfectly fine for years.

With my 1050, I had to order a dvi-d to vga connector, as soon as it arrived, I set everything up and turned my pc on, but for some reason my monitor was saying "Cable not connected" before going in to stand by mode.

I opened up my pc to see what was happening inside and basically, I turn my pc on, the 1050 powers up for about 5 seconds before powering back down again, please help as I would like to be able to use my 1050 asap.

OS: Windows 10

Motherboard:GA-F2A78M-HD2

If anything else is needed, please reply with what is needed.

For DVI-D to VGA you need an active adapter, one that includes electronics to convert the DVI-D digital signals to VGA analogue signals, a simple connector like the DVI-I type will not work.
