Windows 10 periodically gives me the error message, “Your Outlook account settings are out of date.” I’m running Outlook 2010. When I go to Apps->Mail, my Outlook account is listed with “Attention required” below it in red. If I click on that, it gives a clickable “Fix account” option… but I’m reluctant to do that because Outlook 2010 is working fine, and I don’t want to screw it up.
I have also been getting that on W10 phone recently, Especially on Gmail when using the inbuilt mail client on W10. That happens when there is a network error or slight delay and W10 thinks that the settings are wrong. They aren't. Just press the more information link, not the fix button. That takes you to a Microsoft webpage As soon as you land on the page, scroll & then close it. When you go back to Outlook, the error message should be gone.
Thanks, but W10 phone must be different than PC, because there’s no “more information” link for me. The only options are Fix Account and Change Settings. Also, I don’t use Gmail nor the built in mail client – I installed Outlook 2010 separately (yet still Windows 10 knows about it). I’m ignoring the error msg., but it keeps recurring.
