So i’m very new here but i have this question none of my friends seems to be able to answer properly.
Lately i’m getting difficulty’s running games on my pc. I already upgraded my graphics card to a gtx 1050ti 4g but now i feel like my processor bottlenecks the whole thing. I have a i5 4590 3,30Mhz.
Now if i look at the prices of a i7 i feel nausious. But i’ve been told i can also look for a i5 wich can be as good of an upgrade as an i7...
The question, what do i have to look at when looking for a new processor? How do i know if its a big upgrade or not? Is it just the Mhz?
No, it's not just about MHz. It sounds like the hardware you have should work fine for what you're doing. It sounds like your games were running well for awhile. The bottleneck is most likely due to some software issues or perhaps cache settings? Take a look at this:
So basicly my processor should be fine? But its not like i should expect to be able to run games on max quality?
The processor is the only part of the pc i still dont understand yet.
And if it is cache or software settings and stuff? How do i fix this?
That's where I hope that some people with more expertise that I have will chime in here! You can start by posting your system specifications using the forum System Info Utility (search for it on the forum) and then try googling about what issues can slow down gaming on a pc, or in Windows 10, or whatever is relevant. Is it one game or all games that are not performing well Perseverance and Good luck,
I think your hardware is up to running most games. Perhaps not at very high res however you should be able to run just about any game.
Have you checked your temps and voltages lately? If not, do so. Most motherboard mfg have purpose designed monitoring software for their products. This will give you the most accurate info. Since we have no idea what motherboard you are running, it is hard to tell you where to look for monitoring software.
Check the following; cpu temp, system temp, 12V, 5V, and 3.3V values. Do this twice; once under a normal load and once while running a stress test. Use either prime95 or OCCT to stress the system. Let the stress test run for at least 2min to stabilize temps and voltages. Post the result here.

I'm not a hardware/gaming expert, but I agree with crjdriver.
The processor and graphic card in your PC should be sufficient for most games.
You didn't mention how much RAM is in your PC.
Hopefully, it has at least 8 GB, and preferably 16 GB.
We don't know how well you maintain your PC and what apps are installed and running in it.
That in itself can have a noticeable negative impact on speed and performance.
