Hi all. I have a Samsung MyCam SCX904, model no. VN-U12/SEA. I'm trying to get it fully working. I can replay recorded tapes (8 mm video cassettes) and see the recorded footage playing back through the viewfinder, and everything works great, EXCEPT THAT, when I look through the viewfinder to try to film something, nothing shows up in the viewfinder, the screen is blank, and there's no error messages. I tried recording over a small part of the one cassette I still have but nothing shows up on the tape after (it records a blank section on the tape). I have an owner's manual, but it's no help. Anyone have an idea what could be wrong, why I can't see anything through the viewfinder in either Camera or VCR mode? I hope it's something simple. Otherwise, I'll just recycle the thing. Thanks, guys.

Thanks, Chuck. I did remove the lens cap, forgot to mention that.

That's a good point about the f-stop and such. I don't think the camera has those capabilities of adjustment, but I will check the manual more thoroughly and get back to you.
