Solved

Hi
Recently my laptop, Running Windows7 seemed to slow down. It now takes several minutes to start up while all the time the Disk appears to be continous active. Suspecting AGV, I removed AVG but the PC is still painfully slow. Is this a virus/malware or what? Please help.
Thanks,
Ken

Hi Ken_RM,

Your logs are clean of malware.

There is an outdated version of Java installed on your PC. Please do the following to update it:

---------------------------------------------------
Update Java

  • Navigate to the Java Download page.
  • Click Java Download, then Agree and Start Free Download.
  • Save the Java Setup file to your desktop.
  • Right-click the file and select Run as Administrator.
  • Click Install.
  • Uncheck any optional offers during the installation.
  • If you are notified that there are older versions of Java installed, select each version and click Uninstall.
  • When the installation is complete, you will receive the message "You have successfully installed Java"
  • Click Close to close the installer.
  • Your version of Java is now up to date!

Let me know how the computer is doing.

Hi iMacg3
Did the Java thing and PC is still working.
May I ask you what my kids always asked me when I took them on a long journey: "Are we there yet?"

ThePCc now takes about 20 seconds to start Windows, 25 seconds to get to logon and then 100 seconds to complete logon. After that the Disk remains rather busy for a further 12o seconds before Disk activity drops to an intermittant usage. Does this sound normal or am I just being a little impatient?
Cheers
Ken

Hi Ken_RM,

It does appear that your computer is clean of malware. Since the issue is not malware related and not my forte, I recommend you start a new topic in the Windows 7 forum for assistance.

The following will remove the tools we used as well as reset system restore points:

---------------------------------------------------
KpRm

Download KpRm by kernel-panik and save it to your desktop.
  • Right-click kprm_(version).exe and select Run as Administrator.
  • When the tool opens, ensure all boxes are checked, and select Run.
  • Once complete, click OK.
  • A log will open in Notepad titled kprm-(date).txt.
  • Please copy and paste its contents in your next reply.

I recommend backing up your PC regularly. There are several ways to back up your computer, such as using a cloud-based service online, external hard drive, or CD/DVD.
