I have installed Windows 10 Home on my computer using the Microsoft media creation tool (USB stick). I'm looking for an inexpensive key to activate Windows.
Do I need an activation key for a "retail" or "OEM" version of Windows 10 Home?
If you installed Windows 10 Home 64-bit in a newly-built computer that's never had Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 installed in it, you need to contact Microsoft and purchase a product key for it.
Did you buy your computer all assembled without an operating system, or did you build it yourself from various parts?
If you bought it all assembled, the seller may have been able to install Windows 10 in it much cheaper than you buying a retail copy and installing it yourself.
When I buy a refurbished computer, I pay only about $40.00 - $55.00 extra to have Windows 10 Home or Pro installed in it.
I've never bought "a cheap product key" for Windows 10, so I can't comment on them.
It's my guess though that most of them are non-genuine.
