So I bought a ryzen 9 3900x, put it on my TUF b450 but after turning on the PC, CPU fan works for 1 second then stopped. After holding the power button, the fan works for another second before the PC is shuted down. Nothing shows on the monitor
It is not going to work until you update the bios. The 4xx chipset boards do not have native support for the 3xxx processors. You need bios 1201 or later prior to installing that cpu.
Yes, however make sure you read and fully understand the flashing procedure. The ONLY way I ever update a bios on an asus board is by using EZ flash which is a utility built into the bios. IMO using a windows based flashing program is asking for a problem.
There was only one original B450 that had native support for 3000 series Ryzen that would be the AsRock B450M /AC (because it was newly released during the Ryzen 3000 release).
