Hi all. I'm just posting in general to get some ideas but can be more specific on models, bios, and such things later if needed.
I helped my roommate change the ASUS motherboard he has because he didn't know how to do it. I got everything going, not problems with the swap or anything. Got the computer loaded and I keep getting a screen at the beginning saying invalid RAID settings, and one saying Checksum bad.
As for the RAID, I went in to the BIOS and disabled it... but that's still coming up, so not sure on that.
For the checksum, I honestly don't even know what that means. I'm imagining chipset or driver issues?
I can still load to the OS by bypassing and using default BIOS settings by pressing F2. When I'm in the OS a few boxes come up about missing dll files (not sure if related to either of the previously mentioned issues). My computer won't recognize any sort of mouse because the USB drivers need updating...which I can't do because my computer won't allow my mouse to click on anything. I used the keyboard to navigate to device manager and see there are 13 drivers that need updating. I can't do this because I "search online" for them and nothing comes up.
At this point I'm stuck. Everything seems to be functioning properly hardware wise, and software wise also, except the drivers. He bought the motherboard from someone on ebay and it didn't have any software or anything with it. I'm not sure if that's the issue as I've never done a motherboard swap, so don't know if I need to install new drivers for it or what. The new motherboard is the same base model as the old, just a newer, stronger version, so everything seems to be fine with that.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm fairly handy with computers, so you can just tell me what to do, where to go, what to click, and I can try things out to fix it. The biggest part is getting the USB driver fixed so I can use the mouse to click on the driver install download button that it won't let me navigate to with the keyboard. Thanks in advance!
