I have a toshiba satellite L645D-S4040 it was working normally then suddenly I had a problem at boot up either _ underscore kept flashing forever and it wouldnt boot or it would say boot device not found as well as hard drive not found. When I am able to boot up (after removing the battery and holding the power button for about twenty times it gives me the safety reboot options). it works great for about 20 minutes then performance slows down making it almost useless. I have not downloaded many programs into it. I have run both anti malware byes and anti virus no problems found. I also note thy the processor it almost always running at 1 to 3 percent but doing something like just opening up the control panel drives it up to 53%. This satellite doesn't come with A recovery disk. Windows 7 was the pre installed os. Please help. Ive tried everything even safe mode lags. It also takes about 20 minutes for windows to fully load when it does boot up and lags tremendously afterwards anyways.

I'm forced to use my iPod since I'm a student and can't afford another one right now.

Run some diagnostics on the hard drive--Windows' disk check, maybe one in the BIOS or get one from the hard drive manufacturer.

Are you sure it's F8? F8 is normally for Windows' boot menu. Maybe this Toshiba Support Bulletin will help.
