Hello! Yesterday, after coming home from school, I turned on my laptop and seemed to be having no problems. Suddenly my computer lagged extremely badly when going on a friend's Facebook profile to view their pictures. I restarted my computer and found that my computer was moving at a snail pace - no matter what I did, it was going VERY slow. Given the fact that I don't download a lot of games and what not on my laptop, it was extremely unusual.

Currently, the only way I can utilize my laptop without it running very slow (taking 30 minutes to google something) is in safe mode w/ networking. I ran a virus scan today with MalwareBytes and it did pick up on a Trojan Horse, which is unusual for me as I haven't had a virus in 6 years or so.

I am also concerned that there might be dust in my laptop fan, as I live in a dusty basement and always use my laptop on my lap.

When I'm not in safe mode, my laptop runs very slow and even on start up, is at 100% CPU Usage. It stalls and lags doing the simplest of things and as soon as I turn it on, the fan is blowing very hard - it doesn't sound clogged, but as if it's working harder. I will be buying compressed air tomorrow to see if that will help.

I am currently running Spybot and it has claimed it has found 1 thing currently (scan is not done). I'm hoping you guys could also provide some help as usually I'm the "techy" of the family, but even I'm stuck. I hope we can get it fixed together!

Edit: Computer shut down to prevent overheating whilst I was in mid scan. Definitely concerned if my fan is acting weird.

Specs:
HP Compaq Presario CQ56
Windows 7
2 GB RAM
250 GB hard drive
