    Arrgh!
I thought I had this problem solved by increasing my RAM. (See my previous thread I closed in February)

My computer increases to 100% CPU usage when I try to play online games or watch youtube. It starts out fine when its the first thing I do when after turning on my computer but it slows down the longer I play my game or try to get on youtube. I tried downloading the file using Real and watching it offline using WinAmp and VLC, both increases my CPU to 100%.

I noticed on youtube, the voice is faster than the video. Very very irritating, especially as I have increased my RAM just a few months ago.

Any suggestions? I did not have this problem earlier.

If that doesn't work. What program is using up all the CPU? Search that programs name and see what you come up with.

You could download and run the free Process Explorer. You'll be able to precisely identify the culprit. By right-clicking on the process showing high CPU and selecting Properties… > Threads tab, you'll be able to pinpoint the thread that's hogging CPU within the process. You'll need to slide the bar left of CSwitch Delta in order to see the CPU values.

Process Explorer doesn't require any installation. Simply run the executable file once downloaded. Then, configure the Process Explorer window to your liking. You can even replace the Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) by clicking on Options > Replace Task Manager. You'll get a lot more features and details than with the Task Manager.

To determine which Process might be hogging CPU, click on the little graphs located at the top right of the window. A new window with four graphs will open, the first one being CPU. Click inside the window and press the spacebar to freeze the display. This will make it easier to hover your mouse cursor over the CPU peaks in order to read which process(es) is/are creating them.

I should have mentioned what causes my CPU to go 100%

Firefox and Chrome use my CPU when I try to watch youtube or play online games (facebook)

I dont have this problem when its the first thing I do after starting my computer. A while later both start to use my CPU up.

Will update after downloading process explorer.

Does this happen when watching videos from your hard drive?

Do you notice the same thing when playing games (not online)?

I dont play offline games only net games.
I do watch vids from my hard drive, and there is a lag between the picture and the sound after I try to skip forward.

Tried using both winamp and VLC and both are having the same problems.

I'd try updating video and sound drivers.

    Click Start > Run > type devmgmt.msc

    Expand Display adapters.

Locate your video device, right-click it, and select Update Driver...

Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.

Locate your audio device, right-click it, and select Update Driver...

Tried to but couldn't. I have a Japanese Windows XP. I tried but maybe I wasnt clicking the right place.

I went to intel and realtek website to download the latest drivers.
Intel had 2 that seemed to apply to what I have, win2k_142550.zip and win2k_1424.zip. One is 8 months older than the other.
Realtek I could only find WDM_R248.zip, that seem to apply to what I have.

Should I unzip these files into a folder and update driver and tell my computer to look in the folder I unzipped the downloaded files in?

I uninstalled the zip files, and directed the the update to the folder where I unzipped the files.

I got a message, hardware cannot be updated.
I think the drivers I have on the computer are better suited to my computer than the files I have downloaded and unzipped into my folder. Hope I make sense.

My games, video works fine if its the first thing I do when I start my computer. Could it be a memory issue?
Also, could it be flash/adobe related problem?

If you're even having problems offline, I doubt Flash would be to blame.

    Try a Clean Boot.
