I use winxppro. I get 100% cpu usage when nothing is running. I have run my antivurus and adware and spydoctor and spybot etc. and have cleaned everything out but i still am slow and it hangs up.

One thing that may be relevant. I peeked into the C;/windows folder and i have a million directories "uninstallKB999999999999$" and "uninstallKB999999999999_0$" (the 9s represent digits) with the subdirectory "spuninst"

    thanks for any help,

    Frank

I think those are your service pack folders, as for the problem, i have no idea except trying to reformat and reinstall?

Have you gone into Task/Process Manager to see what .exe is boosting your CPU usage so high??
