Just received my HDMI cable for my PS3 and hooked it up to my LG 720p TV. It prompted me that it detected an HDMI connection and asked if I wanted to set to "Optimal Settings" or "Optimal Resolution" (Can't remember exactly what the message was). I said yes and it then told me the settings were on the Optimal setting of 1080p...well my TV is a 720p. Shouldnt it not be able to support 1080p settings?? or will it just automatically set the quality to the most the TV can handle?

I think it will automatically set the settings for you.

The TV will just display what it supports,if its 720P then thats what you'll get on the TV.

Yeah that what I thought. You can actually see it do that I think. When I turn the PS3 on, for about a second, it flashes "Invalid Format" then that disapears and the game starts.

    Thanks!

To avoid that I'm sure there's a setting in the PS3 to set the output to 720P.
