I am getting the following error: (I'm running Win XP SP2)

C:\WINDOWS\System32\cmd.exe
The NTVDM CPU has encountered and Illegal instruction.
CS:0dbf IP:01af OP:63 6f 6e 74
Choose Close to terminate the application.

It happens shortly after I boot up, pretty much identical to this persons post( http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt-2000-xp/401508-solved-16-bit-ms-dos.html), although his is solved and I have no idea how he went about it.

I've got a HijackThis log which is what I saw was in his post, anyone care to analyze it for me as I have no bloody idea. It seemed to me that the person had a virus, although I've scanned my PC with AVG before and run numerous spyware scans and get nothing, anyway enough babbling, here is the log:

I don't see a virus in your log. Before I completely rule that out, I want you to try this first:

Go here: http://www.visualtour.com/downloads/

Scroll down and download the file XP_FIX.EXE

Save it to your desktop or to another location where you can find it. Double click on the file to run it once it's downloaded.

Make sure to restart the computer afterwards.

Let us know if the error still persists. If so, we will proceed with different instructions.
