When I tried to turn on my computer last night - I turned it off in the morning to go to work - it would click and start to "rev" up, but then shut down. I took the cover off too look-see. The fans seem to be working. The mother board has no OBVIOUS blow outs. Any other suggestions before I seek a professional?

The first device I would look at for a problem like that is the power supply. If you have another one lying around your house, try swapping them out and see what happens. Do you have a lot of brownouts or surges in your area?

If the desktop is under any sort of warranty or service plan though, just take it to a technician and don't even touch the hardware.
