I have a Pent III 450 Mhz Gateway PC. I am running win98 SE. I am hoping I am in the right forum. I have a 10G HD and only about 800M left, so naturally everything is slow and some programs won't run as my system resources are so low. My question is, should I add a 2nd HD or just get a new PC? I have no problems with opening up the tower as I have upgraded my ram (from 128 to 384), replaced a sound card and modem. Any advice would be appreciated...:)...Carole

Your system resourses and the amount of hard drive space free are not related at all. You should trim down what you have running at start-up to help free up resoures. And keep any programs closed until you actually use them.See here:

As far a second drive, you should check Gateway to see how big of a drive your PC can handle without a big hassle.(BIOS update mainly)
As cheap as PCs are right now, you may consider buying a new system and using the old one as a backup. A new "decent" computer can be gotten for under 300 bucks. Or better yet, build you one and use some of your old parts in the new build.

Thanks Junker39. I didn't really know if the HD and System resources were related issues or not. Thanks for the site, I did go and take off a few things. I might check with Gateway tomorrow. I also will get some more things off this PC and maybe wait to get a new one when Windows "Vista" comes out...:)...Carole
