32 vs 64 bit

    Can someone please explaim what the dif between the 32 & 64 bit system....was the 16 bit they older systems? I never fully understood that...I think it has something to do with processes? Could be way wrong.....

    16, 32 and 64 refer to the 'width' of the internal buss.
    Think of a 16 vs. 32 lane highway. Which gets a given amount of cars (data) from point A to point B faster?

    I doubt that you will see a 64 bit buss in home systems for a few more years, but they will make it eventually.

    Besides, I'm about to walk someone thru Fdisking, setting 2 partitions and formatting over in the 95/98/ME forum. If we can read the CD first. crossing fingers.
