Up to here in the new build and just noticed I should have bought a faster processor (more than a boxed Celeron 2 G) if the new board is to utilize the 800 FSB feature.
So do I have to (should I buy) a 2.6 or 2.8 Celeron to get the 800?
Or do I have to buy a P4 2.8 or 3.0 processor to get the 800 FSB?

What's the usual breakout proccessor speed to FSB corollary?

*I will use the 2.0 Gig Celeron in another build. I sure would hate to use up (waste) an 800 FSB MOBO for what is going to be a school, e-mail & Internet game machine.

Yeah, celerons only run at 400Mhx FSB.
Older P4s run at 533Mhz FSB
Newer P4s (2.8 'Northwood' and up, 2.8 'Prescott' and up) run at 800Mhz FSB.

The FSB of the processor is also important as to what speed RAM you get.

    Got it-thought so.
I have one of them (2.6)
    Got it.

No way she gets 800 FSB since she doesn't have enough money. I can put her in at 533MHz with my old (take-out) P4 though.

    Thanks.

As bad as a Celeron is, it will do for a "school, e-mail & Internet game machine". The key in that phrase is Internet Games, such as Pogo. Any other games, such as multiplayer first-person shooters (ie. Doom3), the Celeron isn't good for. Its like racing the Daytona 500 with a GEO Metro - it will run but it wouldn't be pretty.

Yeah it is kind of steep. I am not sure what my next board and CPU is going to be yet. I'll push this old 2400 for about another year at least.:)

OH, this machine I'm on is the "gamer". The one I'm building is the mild one.

I needed assistance making a choice for the 800 FSB processor.
    She won't get one.

    Thanks though.
