4K to second monitor

So I have a 4K monitor but my laptop doesn’t support 4K. If I use a second monitor for my laptop no matter what my laptop runs... can I run 4K videos that way?

Hi, Lamontlane14, and welcome to TSG.

Most laptops can operate an external display at a different resolution than the built-in display. Whether your laptop can support a 4K-HD external display is another matter. Your laptop's specifications should say what video formats are supported through the external video output.
