512 RAM showing as 348 .. ?

    hey folks I have one stick of 512MB of ram in my pc but in the control panel it says my system has 348 MB .. why would this be ?

    I am thinking of adding more RAM this eveningand was doing a check and just noticed this.

    are you using on-board graphics

    Then you have your answer; onboard video uses system ram.

    last nite i was putting everything in a database and thought that i was using 2 128 mb of ram when i was using 128 and 256. the on-board graghics was using 128 mb of the installed ram so that is what i think is going on with your comp. the on-board graphics is using 128 or so MB
