Alright, I basically just have a question.

If I'm on a laptop with 802.11g and a 802.11g router, you're supposed to get a 54mpbs connection. Now, with 802.11n they say you can get like 200+mbps.

Is that mainly for sharing between computers? Or internet connection?

Would a 802.11g connection be fine for my laptop for music streaming and games? I need some help with this. Because I know for sure my cable internet connection isnt 54 mbps, so how would 270 help my connection unless i was transferring files from computer to computer or something? Thanks.

First, don't believe the hype about 802.11n....or for that matter any speed numbers for any of the wireless standards. The fastest any 802.11n wireless device has ever achieved in a real world test based on numbers I've seen published was about 70-80 Mbps. 802.11g typically achieves speeds around 27 Mbps.

802.11g is perfectly fine for streaming music and for gaming. What you need to ensure is that the quality of the wireless connection is good enough to sustain the streams. This would apply equally to an 802.11n setup too.
