    I think not,

just like memory reverse capatibility is the thing, you need to verify the voltage requirement for the 8x card and see if your mother board is even capable of supplying. Otherwise, just stick to 4x agp, you can get them with 128 mbmem still pretty fast.

An 8x AGP graphics card will work on a 4x mobo, it will just run at 4x AGP, although I don't think you will notice any reduction in performance.

    How sure are you???

You may have noticed lostoreador said otherwise and eMachnes tech support said no also.

As long as the mobo supports 1.5v AGP cards (as most do that were manufactured in the last 2 years) then it will take a 4x or 8x AGP. Its only the old 3v AGP slots that have problems (these boards usually only support AGP 1x and 2x).

Post your eMachines model for confirmation.

An AGP 8x card will work fine on this mobo, it will just run at 4x AGP.

    hey,

i would like to say also

    I agree.

but good to know you guys are out there that actually know the voltage cap of mobo's

    bravo.

    by the way,

if ever you are concerned if something works or not, screw askin just jam it in there and let her rip.

    adios

    I am being very conservative,

verify voltage requirements of agp 8x vs 4x, then cross reference to voltage cap of onboard agp. Just to be safe, however the concensus of replies would indicate no, it won't hurt your mobo.

    good luck
