I've got OE6

and I have several distribution lists.

I want to be able to send a mail out to people on my distribution list.
But I dont want the people on the list to be able to reply to any of the members on the list except for me.

Neither do I want them to see who is on the list for example.

From: Jaye
To: Jaye list
subject: list of info

I don't know if this is simply a matter of setting the people in the list as BCC ?
but then a reply to all will go out to the whole group

in advance

thankxs

Just use BBC as it blocks the "reply to all"

HI Mate,

Is it as EASY as that ???

I havent tried that yet, but can I ask if this is the same scenario ?

I'm on a mailing list, ok... when I get a mail, in the "To" field all I get is the originators email address. and when I reply to all, in the "to" field I get the originator AND an e-mail address. is this acomplised by the BCC field ?

example when replying or doing a reply to all I get is

To: "Fred Hunt and Beckie Menckhoff"; "live2jive"

and when I get a mail from these guy's I get

From: "Fred Hunt and Beckie Menckhoff"

I've attached the header of one mail I know is a dist list.

Hi everyone - this is genuine!

If you operate a small business and are listed in Yellow Pages or =
similar this may effect you.

ok, I've done some testing...

I've added 3 emails as BCC,

when I mail (one to myself)

in the from field I get "jaye" and in the to field I get "Undisclosed-Recipient"

when I reply to all, it fails with the "Undisclosed-Recipient",

now as it stands I suppose this is fine. but if I can get it the way above that would be cool, if it means upgrading OE6 thats kool to

cheers again

in advance

You should only ever use the BCC: field for distribution lists, with your own email in the TO: field. You get one copy back as proof it was sent, they only see your name and their own.

Apart from not making it possible for people to know who else got the list, it also means you are not responsible for sending everyone's email address to everyone else's computer, where they are able to be harvested by viruses and trojans.

If I ever get an email with a long list in the TO: field, I advise the sender. I dont want may email address sent to people I do not know.
